Park Inn by Radisson empowers youth at risk across the world through art
Adding Color to Lives is a coordinated social, art action project launched first in 2015. The purpose is to bring together young people from local communities in difficult life situations and let them express themselves through art. Youth at risk gather street kids, the disadvantaged, and those whose voices are rarely heard in society; they may be refugees or from distressed areas. Through art, Park Inn by Radisson is offering them a platform to express and communicate their hopes, dreams, opinions, and feelings to the wider world.
Last year, in five flagship hotel locations, Park Inn by Radisson organized workshops for local youth at risk together with Joel Bergner. In each location, a colorful mural was created by the youth at risk and volunteers of the hotels. The unique project “Adding Color to Lives” took place in the following locations: Malmö in Sweden, London, Brussels, Köln, and finished in Cape Town.

After the tremendous success of the first Adding Color to Lives campaign in 2015, the initiative continued into 2016. All Park Inn by Radisson hotels, worldwide were asked to submit their Adding Color to Lives plans in the hopes of being selected for a Joel Bergner mural. Last year, the four winning projects were all over the world, starting in Oslo, Norway. Followed by Tallinn, Estonia, Krakow in Poland and finishing the journey in Johannesburg, South Africa. Each of these hotels were partnering with local Youth at Risk organizations.
Committed to support and help local communities and youth at risk
With this campaign, Park Inn by Radisson reinforces its commitment to support childhood, local communities and helps improve the lives of disadvantaged children across the world.
Joel Bergner, the world renowned muralist, street artist and educator said : ”I am very glad to continue my collaboration with Park Inn by Radisson for the ’Adding Color to Lives’ initiative. This project is very close to my heart because it is not only about art, it is about human production and bringing people together from a very different background. I want people to have the feeling that they can create social change and contribute to that community now.”
Inge Huijbrechts, Global Vice President Responsible Business at Radisson Hotel Group, commented: ”We are very pleased to pursue this ’Adding Color to Lives’ project and expand it to new regions across the globe. We are really heartened and encouraged to see so much involvement, gratitude and passion from Joel Bergner, our hotels employees, the local charities and the young people we meet.”
