Muscat’s new shopping center: Oman Avenues Mall
In May 2015, the Oman Avenues Mall opened in Muscat and quickly established itself as one of the area’s most impressive and modern shopping centres. Here’s what you can expect from the hottest new retail destination in the Middle East. With 72,000 square meters of retail space set over five floors, the Oman Avenues Mall can comfortably accommodate over 200 brands. The retail space is divided between 14 departments, covering everything and anything you could possibly want to buy, and it’s all located just a 10-minute walk from our Park Inn by Radisson Muscat.
Quality and quantity
On the ground floor, you’ll find Ladies Mile, with La Senza, Victoria’s Secret and Mango; and Beauty Works, your go-to for everything from makeovers to manicures. The Fashion Exchange department covers a wide area on both the ground and first floors, containing high-street favorites like H&M, Aldo and Footlocker, while the Arena entertainment zone expands across the second and third floors. State-of-the-art gadgets and electronics can be found in Tech City on the first floor, as well as Kids Zone, which contains children’s clothes, toys and a play and activity area to keep them happy while you shop.
Home & Design and Sports Union complete the first floor line-up, with more enigmatically named Silk Road and the Hub located on the ground floor and basement floor respectively. The Sky Lounge on the top floor is all about health and fitness, while the Gold Souk will focus exclusively on all that glitters. Finally, there’s Food Nation, which is conveniently spread across almost the entire mall to ensure you’re never far from a revitalizing snack.

Taking its name from the ancient merchant’s network that historically connected east to west, the Silk Route is home to a raft of local artisans and Omani origin vendors, selling handmade carpets, ornate silverware and traditional Omani fare. Pick up a delicate scent at Rasisi Perfumes, or invest in a stunning piece of gold jewelry from Devji. The basement floor Hub accommodates banks, telecom services, civil services and travel agencies, and even has boardrooms designed for business meetings.

Work up an appetite
Investigating all that Oman Avenues has to offer is hungry work, but with 27 food outlets already installed, those pangs won’t last for long. You can opt for western favorites like Pizza Hut, Burger King and KFC, try the authentic Lebanese cuisine of Bab Idris, or explore Mandilicious’ range of traditional dishes from across the Arabian Peninsula. For dessert, cool down with a From the Tree frozen yogurt. Oman Avenues is open from 10 am to 10pm, so you’ve got plenty of time to wander around and explore at a leisurely pace, stopping for meals or snacks whenever you choose.
