Grab a bargain

Open Monday to Saturday the Naschmarkt is made up of over 120 stalls and restaurants serving food from across the globe and selling a vast array of products at the weekly flea market. Make sure you get yourself down in good time to grab the best bargains. After all that shopping, grab a seat outside and watch the world go by.

Visit the homes of Freud and Mozart

Visiting two of the city’s most famous sons should be in your list of the things to do in Vienna. You can visit the last surviving apartment of Mozart where he lived from 1784 till 1787 and the home of Sigmund Freud from 1891 to 1938. The former home and practice of Sigmund Freud has been made in to a museum displaying original furniture, Freud’s antiques, autograph collection, first editions of his works and his patient’s waiting room. The Mozart Museum opened daily from 10am to 7pm. The building is made up of six floors, each immersing you in the works of the legendary composer.

Visit Danube Island

The annual Danube Island Festival is one of the largest party events in Europe, usually taking place for one week at the end of June. For the rest of the year however there are still beaches, bays, playgrounds, bars and cafes to visit. It can get busy though, with up to 300,000 people a day visiting at the summer peak. Head to the tourist information center for guidance in navigating your way around.

Taste of local soft drinks

Another things to do in Vienna is trying Almdudler, a popular Austrian soft drink. In fact it is second only to Coca-Cola in Austria leading it to be referred to as the “national drink of Austria”. About 80 million liters are produced each year. Almdudler is made with grape and apple juice concentrates and is flavored with herbs. Certainly you should be able to grab it from most shops and restaurants in Vienna.
