Family Friendly Budapest

Visiting Budapest with young children? Fear not, the city is packed with fun and engaging activities and sights for the whole family to enjoy.

All parents know that traveling with kids is a little bit busier than without. That said, the success of any trip is all in the planning. The little ones have other needs and wishes than just sitting in cafés and roaming museums, so make sure you book in something for the whole family to enjoy.

Here are some family friendly suggestions in Budapest:

Going to Budapest with kids without visiting Aquaworld is like going in to a chocolate factory without tasting anything. It just doesn’t feel right! At this themed water park you find one of the largest indoor aqua parks in Europe, with no less than 17 pools. This includes swimming pools, a wave pool, surf pool and 11 slides. If you are bringing really small children, the water park has its own separate ‘Kids World’. Here the kids can have fun in their own children’s pool with mini slides and a play house.

If you are visiting Budapest and the Aquaworld during summer, you can also enjoy the additional outdoor facilities on a fully landscaped beach area. Here the smallest children also have their separate kid’s pool and playground in the sand.

Millenáris Park

Millenáris Park in Budapest is a large green space including a pond, exhibition halls and amazing custom-made playgrounds. It is the ideal place to go with children, also popular with local families, as it has several kids programs to choose from throughout the year. These are things like puppet shows, theatre performances, handicraft workshops and concerts for kids. One of the most popular reoccurring events here is the ‘Chocolate Concerts’, which strives to introduce children to classical music in a fun and engaging way.

City Park – Városliget

The City Park of Budapest is the city’s largest park area and a really historically beautiful one too. The first trees and walkways here were established already in 1751.  Construction started in the first decade of the 19th century, which actually makes it the first public park in the world. Located within its boundaries you find a lot of attractions and sights, like the Zoo, Budapest Municipal Circus or the old castle with a man-made lake for boating or ice skating.. Let us not forget the beautiful Széchenyi Baths. It l maybe looks more like a Baroque palace, but it is actually the largest medical bath, and one of the largest public baths in Europe.

Orczy Adventure Park

Kids are energetic, and need to let out a little steam every now and then. If your kids are more than four years old, the city centre Orczy Adventure Park is the perfect place. It offers an array of outdoor activities such as canopy walks, zip-lines and exciting toys that will keep the whole family entertained for hours. After paying the entrance fee, your two hour adventure begins with gear-fitting and a course on how to use the facilities.

Palace of Miracles

At the Palace of Miracles you find an amusing child friendly science museum with lots of interactive exhibitions. Their goal is to explain the different scientific principles to the visitors in a playful and fun way. One of the most popular experiences is the simulated low-gravity ‘moonwalk’.

This provides you with just a taste of what there is to see and do in Budapest with your family. If you stay at the Park Inn by Radisson Budapest Hotel, you have a comfortable and convenient base close to the city centre and all its sights and activities. In a family friendly city like Budapest, there is always something fun to discover.
