Surf the Perfect Norwegian Wave

Surfing is the original for board sports. Snowboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing and skateboarding all have their roots in wave surfing. You have to learn the original – of course you should learn how to wave surf! It will take a little time and it will take some will power, but everybody can learn how to “walk on water”.

Sandvesanden

In Sandve, approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Park Inn by Radisson Haugesund Airport Hotel, there are absolutely fantastic conditions for wave surfing and kitesurfing. No wonder this place has become so popular among surfers.

The topography in the bottom of the ocean creates surf waves that breaks perfectly and during the summer surfers make pilgrimage from the whole region to find the perfect wave. The strong winds and the open water even makes the winter to a high season for those surfers looking for some more “wind in their sail”. Choose between Sandvesanden, Åkrasanden, Sandhåland or Mjølhus.

Fly to Haugesund and rent a car from here.

The beaches of Jær

Norway’s best conditions for surfing are along the beaches of Jær. Both the summer season and the winter season are terrific for surfing. The long beaches in Jær are naturally made for surfing. If you are a new beginner, you should check out the Solastranden, Hellestø, Sele, Bore and Brusand/Ogna, an all-time favorite amongst surfers. From Park Inn by Radisson Stavanger Hotel it will only take you between 20 minutes and one hour of driving to get to these beaches. During the summer, the waters are calm and flat. Are you of the more experienced kind, come here during the fall or winter and you will get higher and tougher waves.

Fly to Stavanger and start from here.
