The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw one of the most exciting moments of the 2012 season when Kimi Räikkönen made his first win since returning to Formula 1. Let the thrills continue – plan your visit to Yas Marina Circuit today!

Since opening in 2009, the Yas Marina Circuit has earned high praise from Bernie Ecclestone – the F1 Director called it “one of the most exciting tracks” he’d ever seen. We agree. Whether you’re lucky enough to be one of the 50,000 motor sports fanatics attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix or just visiting Yas Marina to see the home of the action, we’ve gathered all the intel you need to navigate your visit.

The Main Event

The Grand Prix takes place at the Yas Marina Circuit, a 5.5 km 21-cornered course designed by Herman Tilke. Its typical Tilke long straight – naturally the site of one of the track’s two DRS zones – promises major speed. The course winds around the Marina in a style reminiscent of the famous Monaco circuit – but while excitement at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix certainly matches anything you’d see at the European classic, the UAE event is infused with a sense of modernity thanks to its glass-and-steel surroundings.

The track travels through the eye-catching Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel, which features an LED lighting system that explodes across the night sky like a permanent fireworks display. Since the Abu Dhabi GP is the first Formula 1 race to go from day to night, spectators have an ideal vantage point for the spectacle. That is, if they can pull their eyes away from the floodlit track – the view of the cars at night is one of the coolest moments of the season.

The Supporting Acts

Celebrate. No matter who wins, the Grand Prix is an event to remember. What better way to end the weekend than at an all-star performance? A race ticket is the only way to gain access to the four exclusive post-race concerts held at Yas Island’s du Arena, an outdoor venue with a state-of-the-art cooling system. The 2013 event boasts performances from UK stadium-shakers Muse and Depeche Mode, not to mention His Hip-Hop Holiness and universal crowd-pleaser Jay-Z. There’ll also be a few UAE artists on the bill for anyone curious about the local music scene.

The After Party

The nightly Amber Lounge after party boasts a crowd cooler than Johnny Depp drinking an iced Negroni in the Arctic Circle. Expect the usual celebrity crowd, from athletes and musicians to actors and business magnates. With some of the best international DJs making an appearance, expect a hedonistic playground for the VVIP (very, very important persons).

The Hangover

Home to countless restaurants and bars, Yas Island is one of the trendiest spots in Abu Dhabi. Our Park Inn by Radisson, Abu Dhabi Yas Island is in the middle of all the action – a stone’s throw from the F1 track and a quick jaunt to the best of the island’s offerings. If you’ve got the post-Grand Prix blues, head to motor sports theme park Ferrari World, where you can satisfy your need for speed on the world’s fastest roller coaster.
