A foodie guide to festive Nottingham
Nottingham is a great place to visit throughout the year for a taste of Olde World English life and some good food and drink, but never more so than at Christmas. The city hosts a number of special events for the festive season, and many of the eateries offer special seasonal meals.
Take a leaf from Friar Tuck’s book and enjoy the best food and drink in Nottingham’s this Christmas.
Get the Festive Spirit
For a warming afternoon of festive fun head to the Nottingham Winter Wonderland in the Old Market Square and Long Row, with a backdrop of beautiful Christmas decorations and hundreds of Christmas trees. A stroll around the wooden walkway will lead you around an Old England style Christmas market of over 50 stalls, home to a selection of unique handmade Christmas gifts. After you’ve bought some Christmas gifts, relax with a warm mulled wine or spiced cider in the bar, and take a spin on the ice rink.
Nottingham Castle is one of the city’s best attractions, and throughout December is a great place to visit for a taste of Christmas past. The castle will be decked with sparkling lights and other decorations, and in December will also be home to Christmas Craft Stalls. Children will enjoy the seasonal craft activities and taking the Christmas trail around the Castle to help Santa find presents. After exploring the festive castle, make sure you enjoy panoramic views of Nottingham in the café while you refresh yourself with mince pies and mulled wine.
