Belgian Festivals, the #innsider’s way
n Belgium there are more than 400 music festivals to choose from between July and August, in fact, the country is home to a year round roster of festivals, pageants and carnivals. So if you fancy rocking out, raving or something more relaxed, Belgium’s festival scene has something for you! Here are a few of our #innsider tips for getting those good vibrations.
Rock Wercher – 3rd-6th July 2014
The ethos at Rock Wercher is to bring together multiple genres, providing an artist line-up with broad appeal, the festival is internationally acclaimed scooping numerous awards and selling out in advance. Last year it attracted 140,000 revellers! Unfortunately this year is currently sold out but you can put your name down for the waiting list for the re-sale period. Artists included in the 2014 line-up include, Metallica, Arctic Monkeys, Pearl Jam, Skrillex and HAIM as well as many more top acts. Les Ardentes – 10th-13th July 2014
An electro-rock festival taking place at Queen Astrid Park near the centre of Liege, Les Ardentes has been active since 2006 and has grown from a capacity of 25,000 people to almost 70,000 in under 10 years. The camp site is located a shuttle ride away from the main venues. Tickets are still on sale for all days, confirmed artists include Placebo, Rita Ora, Stromae and The Horrors. Pukkelpop – 14th-16th August 2014
Starting in 1985 as a small local event, Pukkelpop has since grown in to a large outdoor festival, which is considered one of Europe’s finest. Across eight stages, the line-up includes Editors, Disclosure and Outkast. One of the festival traditions is the Boiler Party night, held the night before the festival commences, revellers are treated to a warm up session in the main arena to get them in the party mood for the coming days. Laundry Day – 6th September 2014
Considered one of the most important dance festivals in Belgium, Laundry Day brings together the world’s finest DJs. Held on just one day near Antwerp, this year’s line-up includes Laidback Luke, Wolfpack and DJ Licious. You could find it tough to choose who to see as Laundry Day contains 13 stages, with genres ranging from dubstep to urban and DnB to electro. Fancy it?
